A documentary equivalent of Captain Fantastic, a family seeks a wild free existence in the Norwegian wilderness.
Maria and Nik, a British man, have chosen to make an unconventional life for themselves and their four children off grid on a small, farm surrounded by fir forest. They grow their own food, home school the children, close together and close to nature… until a tragic turn of events shatters their isolation and compels them to adapt to the demands of modern society. Not the film that Silje Evensmo Jacobsen set out to make, the shift in subject-matter to fragile family dynamics is perhaps all the more interesting for that.
