The seventh edition of Open Screen brings some important changes to the submission requirements.
With increasing competition for screen time, we have reduced the length of films from 15 minutes to 12 minutes maximum and are only screening in one venue - the Studio Cinema at the Courtyard.
Building on last year’s success, we are offering a Best Film Award of a new iPad - once again generously donated by John Finch Computers of Hereford.
Our criteria for judging the films will be creativity and innovation in both story and style, and technical and logistical achievement, holding in mind the resources available to the production.
As usual, only filmmakers in Herefordshire, Powys, Shropshire and Worcestershire are eligible to submit their film and it is expected that filmmakers will attend the screening.
The sharing of filmmaking experiences is key to Open Screen’s mission. It is an opportunity for our audiences to appreciate locally produced work, a chance for filmmakers to test their films on a festival audience, to meet and network with other filmmakers and the BFI Network Midlands Talent Executive in an informal setting after the screenings.
Once you submit the form, we will email you a link to a folder where you can upload your film. Your film will need to be uploaded before the deadline in order to be eligible.
If you need any further information, please contact Jane Jackson.
Please complete the Submission Form online no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 4 December 2024.
