Bart and Laurie, both sharpshooters, meet in a fairground, fall in love and embark on a crime spree in this cult film noir.

A low-budget B-movie with a terrific script by an uncredited Dalton Trumbo (blacklisted, his services were cheap), Gun Crazy was shot in just 30 days and maintains an extraordinary pace. Key to its success is Irish actor Peggy Cummins, born in Prestatyn, Wales almost exactly a hundred years ago. Her pretty, vivacious and petite appearance makes for an unlikely ruthless killer. Her performance as Laurie Starr is nuanced, and her outfit, beret and dark glasses, is iconic, the model for Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde. A compulsive watch.
