Ageing shepherd Yves struggles to find a successor as bears prey on his flock in their remote summer pasturelands; Lisa, a young shepherdess, discovers her chosen livelihood is too fraught to sustain; Cyril, a teenage boy is obsessed with tracking and photographing the bears. Two years in preparation, this character-driven documentary eschews an activist approach.
